DECEMBER RESIDENT OF THE MONTH: Gail Toussaint

Meet Gail Toussaint, Traditions' December Resident of the Month! Gail has called Traditions at Solana in Indianapolis, Indiana, home for 4 years.

Gail was born and raised in Worcester. Located in central Massachusetts, Worcester is the second most populous city in New England, after Boston.

“I have lived in Indiana since 1971,” said Gail. “My late husband, Joe Toussaint and I were married for 57 years. We have 4 sons, the first three sons are all about one year apart, but our fourth son was born sixteen years after our first son! Joe and I decided that I would be a homemaker so that I could stay home and raise our children.”

When we asked Gail if she has any hidden talents, she smiled and said, “I paint with oils and play the piano. Although I have not painted for years, I do love it so much. Lately, I’ve been enjoying the watercolor classes that are offered at Solana.”

Gail loves being of service. In fact, she is a lifetime member of the Salvation Army Woman’s Auxiliary in Indiana, and she also sang in the St. Matthew’s Catholic Choir for 25 years.

Gail also said that she loves walking and being outdoors any chance she gets.

“Being outside just makes me happy,” she exclaimed!

"I chose Traditions at Solana as my new home with the help of my son; I wanted to be closer to family. I hold my Catholic faith very dear to my heart, and I love that my community offers weekly communion that I’m able to attend.”

“Gail is such an outgoing resident and is always so pleasant with our staff and her fellow residents,” said Barbara Waggoner, Activities Director for Traditions at Solana. “She Loves to help with calling BINGO, assisting in art activities, and so much more.”

“She is often seen reaching out to newer residents to encourage them to join the many activities and events that our community has to offer,” continued Barbara. “Gail truly wants to help in any way she can. Her encouragement means so much to so many people in the community. She always greets you with a beautiful smile whenever she sees you!”
