Meet Richard Kemp, Traditions' Featured Employee of the Month! Richard was born and raised in Canton, Ohio, a small town in northeast Ohio, home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Richard is a bus driver for Traditions of Deerfield. Although he has held this position for less than six months, his kindness and commitment to Traditions' Core Values have made him a standout employee.
When Richard isn't working, he loves spending time with his wife, Lisa. They have two grown children, Faith and Scott. He and Lisa also have two beautiful grandchildren, Nick (21) and Chris (16).
"When I'm not with my family, I enjoy reading, playing pickleball, and gardening," said Richard.
"I find my job very rewarding," Richard continued. "The residents at Traditions of Deerfield mean the world to me. I try to always be of comfort and support to them.
Kristen Kelly, Traditions of Deerfield's Executive Director, witnesses Richard's compassion daily, stating, "We have a resident who has no family nearby who just received a bad medical diagnosis; she has cancer. Richard took her to her first appointment last week, and at the end of her appointment, when she was walking out of the doctor's office, he reached for her hand and said, 'It's going to be okay. Let's go home.' He then walked her to the bus and ensured she felt cared for and not alone."
Kristen continued, "We nominated Richard as Traditions' featured Employee of the Month because he exhibits the Traditions' Core Value of Service. He looks out for the residents and anticipates their needs. Richard ensures they receive the highest level of service, driving them to their appointments and getting them there safely and on time. He regularly offers to come in on his day off if we need help. In between driving appointments, Richard often works in the Maintenance Department, either fixing something for a resident or painting an empty apartment."
